The “rds Rooftop Campaign” joins forces with the Berlin Business Location Center

More sun on the roof!

About 220,000 rooftops in Berlin are suitable for the operation of photovoltaic systems. This is evident from the data provided by the “Berlin Solar Atlas” an urban mapping project realized under the auspices of Berlin Partner GmbH (www.businesslocationcenter.de/en/3d-model-of-berlin/the-project/project-examples/solar-atlas). As it stands, only 9,000 rooftops in the German capital are currently equipped with a solar installation. Yet if all the suitable rooftops were used to generate solar power, this could bring about a marked reduction in Berlin’s volume of CO2 emissions. In order to boost the number of solar systems on the city’s rooftops, the Berlin Solar Atlas project has decided to team up with a locally based company, rds energies GmbH.

rds energies GmbH has been doing its part to promote a more efficient use of rooftops through its rds Dachkampagne (“rds Rooftop Campaign”). Consulting the campaign’s homepage, www.rds-dachkampagne.com, enables owners of rooftop surfaces to make a more informed decision on whether to lease their roofs out for use by third-party solar systems or to invest in their own installations. Upon request, rds provides roof-surface owners with contacts to installation providers and potential roof lessees, from whom the owner can then solicit advice and/or a corresponding rental offer. This service is free of charge to owners.

Developed by Berlin Partner, the Berlin Solar Atlas is able to show any resident of the city the potential of his own roof in terms of solar energy generation. Thus, it made perfect sense for Berlin Partner and rds to join forces in promoting the use of solar rooftops in the German Capital.
