Poll Position in Ranking of 'European Cities & Regions of the Future':
The Future Belongs to Berlin!
Berlin is one of the top three business locations in Europe in terms of its outlook. This is according to the Financial Times Group’s publication for foreign direct investment, fDi magazine, in its annual ranking of 'European Cities & Regions of the Future.' Only London and Paris were able to surpass Berlin in terms of attractiveness to business.
fDi magazine used 75 indicators to assess the attractiveness of location of more than 1000 European cities and regions.

Berlin: City of innovation and communication
In the "European City of the Future-Germany 2006/7" competition, Berlin won due to its excellent promotional strategy, clearly explained investment incentives, overall attractiveness to FDI, heritage, hospitals, housing and universities. The city attracted 20 foreign investments in that year, which created 800 new jobs.
By winning these awards, eastern Germany and Berlin are entitled to take part in the second round of the competition for "Western European Region of the Future 2006/7" and "Western European City of the Future 2006/7".
