Berlin Master Chefs
Berlin Partner GmbH has been awarding the title of "Master Chef" to the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region’s most outstanding culinary experts on an annual basis since 1997.
Awards are presented at a festive gala dinner at the Hotel InterContinental Berlin.
By honoring Berlin's master chefs, Berlin Partner has positioned the German capital's haute cuisine as an important locational factor and an advertisement for the city.

Concept
Berlin Partner GmbH has celebrated the best chefs in the Berlin-Brandenburg region each year since 1997. The goal of the "Berlin Master Chefs" initiative is to highlight the economic importance of the region’s outstanding restaurant culture. Berlin’s international flair has a lot to do with its positive image as a metropolis of international cuisine.
The Berlin Master Chefs campaign was initiated by Berlin Partner and the Berlin Regional Hotel and Restaurant Association. In the beginning, six chefs received the designation of "Berlin Master Chef".
Since 2003, Berlin’s best on the upscale cuisine scene are distinguished in six different categories: Berlin Master Chef, Brandenburg Master Chef, Shooting Star of the Year, Berlin Patissier, Berlin Maître and Berliner Sommelier. One award per category is granted annually to one recipient.
The selection of award recipients lies in the hands of an independent jury made up of journalists and distinguished representatives of the restaurant industry. Jurors focus on the quality, originality and presentation of the dishes as well as on the overall services provided. The chairman of the jury is Prof. Dr. Dieter Großklaus, Bailli of the Gourmet Guild "Confrèrie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs" of the Berlin-Brandenburg Region.
In the spring of each year, the jury receives a list of nominated candidates from which they must pick the finalists by August of that same year. The "Berlin Master Chefs" are then presented at a press conference at the beginning of September. On the last Sunday in October, the final awards are given out at the "Berlin Master Chefs Gala Dinner" at the Hotel InterContinental. Over 300 invited guests from Berlin Partner member companies attend the celebrations.
The "Berlin Master Chefs" campaign promotes the city’s status as a major location for "upscale gastronomy", "hospitality" and "savoir-vivre". The "Berlin Master Chefs" are distinguished as outstanding representatives of their respective branches – they represent the capital’s creative potential and one of the factors that make Berlin so attractive to locals and foreign guests alike.
