Introduction
The Confederation of Employers` and Business Associations of Berlin and Brandenburg, UVB for short, is the leading association for economic and social policy in the region, and lists approximately ´65 employers`, trades` and business associations from Berlin and Brandenburg as members. In addition to the regional associations of industry, commerce, banking institutions and service industry as well as the trades, there are associations operating nationwide which belong to the UVB. These may have no regional structure, but participate in the regional head organisation to represent their member companies operating and residing here.
The UVB is the regional member association in the Federal Confederation of the German Employers` Associations (BDA). In addition, the UVB performs the functions of the representation of the "Land" Brandenburg and "Land" Berlin in the Federal Association of Germany Industry (BDI). Together with the "Land" district representaion of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB), the UVB is also a social partner and representative in the selfgoverning social institutions.
Tasks
The Confederation of Employers' and Business Associations of Berlin and Brandenburg (UVB) is the leading association for economic and social policy in the region. In addition to actively representing corporate interests, it also focuses on supporting and informing member associations and companies. Together with the regional group of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB), the UVB is also a social partner and sponsors self-governing welfare institutions.
The Confederation's most important event is the annual Berlin and Brandenburg Business Day. This is held under the alternating patronage of the State Premier of Brandenburg and the Governing Mayor of Berlin.
The Potsdam Business Forum, run jointly with Märkische Allgemeine newspaper, focuses on current economic and social issues.
