Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin (HU) is one of Germany’s leading research institutions. As one of eleven German universities, the HU
was chosen “University of Excellence” in June 2012. It provides education and research to young academics and post-docs in all main disciplines including humanities, social and cultural sciences, human medicine, agricultural science as well as mathematics and natural sciences. Founded in 1810, HU became the model for all modern universities in the 19th century, in line with Wilhelm von Humboldt’s visionary ideas.
