Berlin Partner invites to the gastronomic highlight of the year
Halibut with cucumber-olive stock, fjord trout with beetroot and oranges, vegan casserole with apricots, savoy and beech mushrooms, baked pork knuckle with apple mustard – these are some of the culinary creations the Berlin Master Chefs will serve to around 350 invited guests from business, politics and the gastronomy sector at today’s gala dinner. Along with Berlin Master Chef 2014, Roel Lintermans, all other awardees will present two creations each at the event in the hotel Berlin InterContinental. This evening will show once again: 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the German capital delights with gastronomic variety, creativity and internationality.
The evening will be heralded by a champagne reception and, following the great success in the previous year, by street food of the Gastronomic Innovator 2013, “Markthalle Neun”. The dinner starts – following a tried and tested tradition – with an hors d’oeuvre by the chef of the Interconti, Thomas Kammeier. The hotel is the traditional host and cooperation partner of the event. Carsten Rettschlag, Brandenburg Master Chef 2014 from the restaurant “Juliette“, Marcus Zimmer, Newcomer of the Year 2014 from the “Restaurant am Steinplatz” in the Hotel am Steinplatz, Tilo Roth, chef of this year’s Most Fashionable Berlin Restaurant, “The Grand” as well as Berlin Master Chef Roel Lintermans from the restaurant “LES SOLISTES by Pierre Gagnaire” in the hotel Waldorf Astoria Berlin each present an entrée and a main course to the guests.
The awardees, including Peter Frühsammer as the host of the year 2014 and Tim Raue as the Gastronomic Innovator 2013, will be presented in a short film during the laudation and honored with individually created, hand-made plates by the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur. The guests have the unique opportunity to have the gala menu explained by the awardees and instantly watch the Master Chefs preparing the dishes in the ballroom.
The project “Berlin Master Chefs 2014”, initiated by Berlin Partner, will take place for the 18th time. The independent jury consisting of Berlin’s leading food critics and connoisseurs evaluates not only the quality of the cuisine but also the originality of the creations, the presentation of the dishes, the service and the ambience. By honoring the Berlin Master Chefs, the sophisticated restaurant culture of the capital is positioned as a flagship of the city and Berlin’s diverse gastronomy is made visible by Berlin Partner as an important economic factor.
