Berlin Gets It Right: AI Agents Transform Customer Service

Berlin, July 27, 2026 – Great customer service is built on resolving customer inquiries quickly, efficiently and with genuine empathy. Long wait times, scripted responses and limited availability, on the other hand, rarely make for a positive experience.  For companies looking to automate customer support without settling for conventional chatbots, Berlin-based startup Parloa offers a new approach. Founded in 2018 by Malte Kosub and Stefan Ostwald, the company has rapidly established itself as one of Europe's leading AI startups and, just a few years later, achieved unicorn status.

At the heart of Parloa's offering is its AI Agent Management Platform (AMP),  which enables organizations to build, test, monitor and scale AI-powered customer service agents. Designed to conduct natural conversations, these AI agents can resolve customer inquiries independently, communicate in multiple languages, operate around the clock, and engage customers across a range of communication channels. To deliver highly personalized interactions, the agents draw on company-specific data, including previous customer interactions and other relevant business information. The result  is a dedicated AI agent available to every customer, 24 hours a day.  Rather than replacing customer service, Parloa uses artificial intelligence to make it more personalized, responsive and effective. The platform understands why customers are reaching out and can independently answer many routine questions  – from opening hours to order and shipping updates. This allows customer service teams to focus on more complex cases that require human expertise,  while customers receive immediate support without lengthy wait times.  The result is a better experience for customers and greater efficiency for businesses alike.

It is little surprise, then, that since its founding Parloa has become one of Europe's fastest-growing AI companies.  Its customers include leading brands such as  TUI, ATU, Barmenia Gothaer, Decathlon, Generali and Swiss Life.   The company is backed by prominent investors including Altimeter Capital, EQT Ventures and General Catalyst,  and today operates offices in Berlin, Munich, New York, London, and San Francisco. Earlier this year, Parloa reached another major milestone by successfully closing a $350 million Series D funding round, bringing the company's valuation to $3 billion. Speaking at the German Startup Awards 2026, founder Malte Kosub shared three pieces of advice for aspiring entrepreneurs with Business Insider: Be ambitious. Stay optimistic. Work hard.[1]
