Berlin gets it right: Where heart meets AI

Berlin, March, 30 2026 - Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in Germany, making prevention a top priority for healthcare providers and researchers alike. That mission is also at the core of Noah Labs GmbH. The Berlin-based startup combines cutting-edge research, artificial intelligence, and clinical trial results to enable early, personalized care for patients with reduced cardiac function – helping extend lives.

Founded in 2021 by Oliver Piepenstock, Marcus Hott, and Dr. Leonhard Riehle, Noah Labs brings together an exceptional range of expertise. Piepenstock contributes deep knowledge in public health and startup development in the healthcare sector. Hott is a machine learning specialist with a strong background in research. Riehle, a practicing cardiologist and active researcher, adds vital medical insight. Together, the trio unites pioneering science with innovative technology to create practical solutions with real-world impact.

The company’s flagship product is Noah Labs Ark, a certified class IIa medical device under EU regulations. Ark is a telemonitoring platform that continuously tracks patients’ vital data via external devices such as blood pressure cuffs or scales. The results are transmitted directly to medical professionals, enabling early detection of changes or deterioration in a patient’s condition. Ark is designed for the care of people with heart failure or atrial fibrillation – providing timely insights that can make the difference between stability and hospitalization.

Complementing Ark is Noah Labs Vox, an AI-powered algorithm developed in-house that analyzes subtle changes in patients’ voices to flag potential cardiac decompensation at an early stage. In a landmark study conducted by researchers at the German Heart Center of Charité in collaboration with the renowned Mayo Clinic, Vox demonstrated how nuanced voice shifts can reveal declining heart function – and how patients can be effectively monitored via telemedicine. The algorithm leverages proprietary deep-learning models trained on voice data collected specifically for this purpose. This technology gives physicians an invaluable tool for early intervention – helping prevent hospital admissions, extending patients’ lives, and reducing costs for the healthcare system.

Noah Labs has already secured significant funding, including support from the prestigious European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. In May 2025, the company was also selected for the Berlin Startup Scholarship (BSS) in the Health Track, a program designed to foster technology-driven health ventures. Within the scholarship, Noah Labs collaborates directly with Humboldt Universität zu Berlin while also benefiting from the expertise of leading institutions such as Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The startup has additionally received support from Berlin Partner, first through its business services and later in close cooperation with its healthcare division. In November 2024, Noah Labs joined a Berlin Partner delegation trip to the United States, strengthening its international ties and connecting with the Berlin office in New York.

For Noah Labs, choosing Berlin as its home base was a deliberate decision. The German capital offers unrivaled access to world-class medical research institutions, a thriving ecosystem of tech startups, and a strong pool of potential investors in the healthcare sector. This unique combination makes Berlin one of the most attractive environments for developing sustainable health innovations – and a natural fit for a company with Noah Labs’ vision
