bett1.de GmbH

Adam Szpyt, CEO, bett1.de GmbH

1.  Describe your company in a tweet.

bett1.de was founded with the vision of offering a high-quality mattress at a fair price. The Berlin-based online retailer stood up to the price-fixing of the then mattress cartel and the BODYGUARD® mattress has been purchased over three million times to date.

2.  Why are you involved as a Berlin-Partner?

As a Berlin company through and through, being a Berlin Partner is not only a logical step for us, but also an exciting opportunity to network with other Berlin enthusiasts.

3.  What issues drive you in terms of your industry?

bett1.de was born out of a pressing desire to shed light on the mattress jungle and stood up to the former mattress cartel. Today, as then, we act pro-consumer and are convinced that people come before margins.

4.  What makes Berlin special for you?

Berlin never stands still. Constantly changing, consistently reinventing itself, the German capital is an inspiration and drive for the people who live in it - and also for their companies.

5.  Why is Berlin attractive for your company?

Bright minds, open-minded, curious and having travelled around the world - they are all in Berlin and we are happy to be able to offer them exciting jobs. And the view over Berlin from the Europa Center's Office Tower is pretty impressive, too.

6.  What does Berlin stand for you?

Cosmopolitan and down-to-earth. Innovative and full of character. Fast-moving and relaxed. Not at a loss for words and outspoken. Berlin is a brand.

7.  How does your company implement the topic of sustainability?

Our conviction: Only products that can be used for a long time are truly sustainable. That's why we focus on quality instead of disposable goods. The high satisfaction of our customers ensures a low rate of returns. We pay attention to packaging made of recycled material as well as product components that can be separated by type and recycled as much as possible. We donate tested returned mattresses to institutions and projects for people in need.
