IUNworld GmbH

André Friedenberger, Head of Site Management IUNworld GmbH

1. Please describe your company in a few sentences.

IUNworld GmbH is a service provider in the education sector, supporting its two sister universities – the University of Applied Management (HAM) and the German University of Health and Sport (DHGS) – in the areas of Marketing & Sales, HR, IT, Finance, Real Estate Management & Architecture, Quality Management, and Library Services.

Both universities are united by their unique semi-virtual study concept, which is the central feature of their academic approach. It combines virtual learning phases with in-person sessions, complemented by a strong network of cooperation partners and personal support for students. The practice-oriented bachelor’s and master’s programs are consistently aligned with the demands of the labor market and optimally prepare students for their career entry or professional development. Experienced lecturers from the field ensure a close connection between theory and professional practice.

2. Why are you engaged as a Berlin-Partner?

Our involvement in the Berlin Partner network offers us a wide range of opportunities. Here, we are part of a strong network spanning business, politics, and academia, allowing us to build and expand valuable contacts and collaborations. These benefit not only our students but also the companies themselves.

3. Which topics are driving your industry?

We see ourselves as a competence center for practical, action-oriented knowledge. We create and share knowledge with real-world relevance at an academic level. The connection between science and industry drives us. Through close cooperation with companies, we facilitate reciprocal and continuous knowledge transfer. Businesses and institutions benefit from our expertise, innovative strength, and applied research.

4. What makes Berlin special to you?

Berlin is a city of diversity, dynamism, and opportunity. It uniquely blends history and future – a metropolis constantly in motion and continuously creating space for innovation.

5. Why is Berlin attractive for your company?

Berlin offers companies a unique combination of innovation, internationality, strong networks, and high quality of life – a location where business, science, and creativity work hand in hand.

6.  What does Berlin stand for, in your view?

Berlin stands out because it brings together diversity and openness – and from this, the future emerges.

7.  How does your company approach sustainability?

For us, sustainability is not a trend but an integral part of our corporate culture. We promote environmentally conscious behavior and future-oriented thinking on multiple levels. By digitizing our processes, we reduce paper consumption and make workflows more efficient.

Our employees benefit from sustainable offers such as the JobRad bicycle program, which supports climate-friendly mobility. We also use water dispensers instead of plastic bottles to conserve resources and reduce waste.

Sustainability is also reflected in our academic programs: With DHGS study programs such as Social Work, Positive Psychology, and Life Coaching, and HAM programs such as Green Engineering and Sustainability Management, we make sustainability part of our (study) program – actively contributing to the education of responsible professionals.
