Tegel Projekt GmbH

Gudrun Sack, Managing Director, Tegel Projekt GmbH

1. Describe your company in a Tweet!

We are turning the former Tegel Airport into a model quarter for the city of the future. An industrial and research park for green technologies of the future is being created in Berlin TXL: the Urban Tech Republic and a smart residential quarter: the Schumacher Quartier.

2. Why are you involved as a Berlin Partner?

Berlin needs strong networks for a sustainable economy and industry. On the one hand, it is our concern to strengthen regional economic cycles. We have just learned this in times of Corona. On the other hand, we want to bring international achievements to Germany and test them here. Berlin Partner is a network with which we can bring together both the global and the local and promote creativity, exchange and the courage to innovate.

3. What topics drive you in relation to your industry?

We want to drive the turnaround in the construction sector. Green technologies of the future, digitalisation, energy transition, new mobility concepts and the interplay between living and working are topics that we will implement in Berlin TXL.

4. What makes Berlin special for you?

In which city do you have such an outstanding inner-city site to plan an urban quarter of the future?

5. Why is Berlin attractive for your company?

Berlin attracts young people internationally - that is the DNA we need as a future location for science, business and research.

6. What does Berlin stand for?

Cosmopolitanism, joie de vivre, creativity, future

7. How does your institution implement the topic of sustainability?

Sustainability is the central theme of the entire development of Berlin TXL and is reflected in the planning and realisation of all important core areas: mobility concept and energy supply, application of recycling and handling of materials, sensitive water management and the use of information and communication technologies.
