Berlin: Smart and Digital

Smart City Berlin will be showcasing its projects and initiatives at the Smart Country Convention, the leading event for digital government and public services, from October 13 to 15.

Over the three-day event, the Berlin Senate Chancellery, other Berlin government agencies and selected state-owned organizations will join their project partners at Booth 407 in Hub27 to present the latest developments in digital government and urban innovation. Alongside Berlin's initiatives funded through the federal government's Smart Cities Model Projects program, the exhibition will also feature projects from CityLAB Berlin. Other key topics include urban resilience and public safety, research into the cities of tomorrow, cooperation across the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region and projects undertaken on behalf of the State of Berlin.

Governing Mayor of Berlin Kai Wegner will open the second day of the convention with a keynote address and present the awards to the winners of this year's City Challenge Berlin at the Berlin booth.

The Berlin IT Service Center (ITDZ) will also be on-site, together with representatives of the 115 Citizen Service Hotline, to provide information about the wide range of services offered by approximately 100 Berlin government agencies as well as federal and other state authorities participating in the 115 network.

Visitors will also have access to a mobile citizen service center.  On the first day of the convention, the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Citizen Service Center will offer SCCON trade visitors a range of services without an appointment, including passport and ID card applications, address registration and changes of address, driver's license services, registration certificates and more.  The Reinickendorf Citizen Service Center will provide the same on-site services on the second and third days.

Florian Hauer, Chief Digital Officer of the State of Berlin: “The Smart Country Convention is Berlin's most important trade show for advancing digital government. I’m delighted that the State of Berlin will be showcasing so many smart city projects this year.  We'll also be demonstrating how modern public administration can make a real difference in people’s everyday lives.  With our mobile citizen service center, we're making a full range of public services easily accessible to Berliners, wherever they happen to be.”

Berlin's presence at the Smart Country Convention is organized by Berlin Partner for Business and Technology GmbH, the city's economic development agency.
