“fDi Magazine” honors German capital
Berlin is one of the most attractive investment locations in Europe. This is certified by an independent ranking of the renowned international periodical “Foreign Direct Investment Magazine” (fDi) which honors the German capital for the best investment strategy in all of Europe. Thus, the capital has defended its position in the category “FDI Strategy” from 2012, still being ahead of London and Helsinki. The awards were presented at the largest international real estate event in Cannes.
Cornelia Yzer, Senator for Economics, Technology and Research: “This award proves that Berlin is a very attractive business and investment location that is competitive both nationally and internationally. It also shows that the capital is on the right track; however, there is no time to rest. Berlin is an outstanding research location and a growing industry and service location. Here, innovations and products for future solutions are developed. As a practical laboratory, the capital directly implements “smart” reference projects, particularly in the fields of electromobility, energy or industry 4.0. Berlin has to use this know-how particularly for investment activities. The merged Berlin Partner for Business and Technology will apply its expertise even stronger to promote investments and business location in Berlin, thus ensuring economic growth.”
Berlin prevailed against a total of 180 European cities within the scope of the biannual ranking “European Cities and Regions of the Future“. The city administrations were asked for the strategies they use to attract foreign investments. Criteria included the range of international events, the internet presence of the city as well as the service for companies interested in investments.
Melanie Bähr, managing director of Berlin Partner for Business and Technology: “The positive performance in the ranking is particularly a result of our professional approach of investors and the agile location marketing. Berlin is well-known to international decision-makers from the economy as a place to be. Highly qualified professionals, countless research facilities and an excellent educational infrastructure meet attractive real estate and business location areas. These advantages are backed by Berlin’s positive image as an open-minded, creative and multifaceted business metropolis.”
