Berlin can Green

Berlin, 20.01.2025 – Tradition meets visions of the future: The 9thGreen Week will take place at the Berlin Exhibition Centre from 17 to 26 January 2025.The traditional and world’s largest trade fair for nutrition, agriculture and horticulture not only inspires national trade visitors, but has also developed into an important international event over the past decades, which always attracts a great deal of media attention. Also in focus this year: current social challenges and questions surrounding climate protection, circular economy, resource conservation and sustainable land use. Just like a number of innovative Berlin food startups, Berlin Partner also uses Heimspiel to promote exchange, networking and cooperation in the agricultural and food industry.

There should be plenty of opportunities for this on the 119,000 m² exhibition space. 60 countries and 1,400 exhibitors are represented. Around 300,000 guests are expected in total. Berlin will be presenting itself in Hall 22a. This includes the Berlin Senate Department, which will bring together innovative young Berlin companies on a “Startup island”. These include Neggst and Mondarella, which Berlin Partner supported at the Berlin stand at this year’s Food Innovation Camp in Hamburg and, in the case of Neggst, has already assisted with several research projects. While Neggst specialises in plant-based egg alternatives based on legume protein, Mondarella produces plant-based cheese alternatives (such as vegan almond mozzarella). Berlin-based companies such as Pranosh Food which produces Indian popcorn from the seeds of a water plant, CinSOIL, a DeepTech startup that enables the agricultural and food industry to monitor their supply chains via satellite, and ratzfatz Food, which offers quick children’s meals made from organic ingredients, will also be represented.

The Startup Days on January 21 and 22, 2025 will be just as exciting as they are promising. They are taking place for the seventh time as part of the Green Week and are aimed at young and dynamic startups from the agtech and food industry, who will present their business ideas and visions in exciting 2-minute pitches. One of the finalists is the Berlin startup Nosh.bio. The company uses microbial biomass, in this case a natural filamentous fungus, to develop high-quality ingredients for food production, for example meat alternatives.

Another matchmaking event co-organised by Berlin Partner is the international cooperation exchange “Green Week Business Days 2025” of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). The format offers industry stakeholders a platform on which they can specifically search for suitable business and project partners in the agricultural and food industry. Matchmaking will take place both in person at the trade fair and online before and after. Those who would like to get to know each other on site instead of in the digital space will have the opportunity to do so on 22 January directly at the exhibition grounds and can register online. The online events after the trade fair are scheduled for 29 and 30 January.
