Dr. Thomas Mann, Geschäftsführer der mietsenkung-berlin GmbH
1. Please describe your company in a few sentences.
mietsenkung-berlin GmbH helps tenants identify excessive rents and enforce their rights under Germany’s rent control regulations (Mietpreisbremse). We provide free, personalized consultations, review rental agreements, calculate legally permissible rents and potential reimbursement claims, and support both out-of-court settlements and, where necessary, legal proceedings. Our compensation is entirely success-based. Consultations are free of charge and come with no obligation.
2. Why are you engaged as a Berlin-Partner?
Fair and affordable housing is essential to ensuring that Berlin remains a strong, diverse, and attractive place to live and do business. As a local legal services provider, we want to contribute our expertise, connect with other stakeholders, and help promote a socially sustainable housing market.
3. Which topics drive you in relation to your industry?
We are particularly focused on the effective enforcement of rent control regulations, transparent and understandable rent pricing, and easy access to legal support. Personal advice, clear communication, and enforcement models that eliminate financial risk for tenants are especially important to us.
4. What makes Berlin special to you?
Berlin is defined by its diversity, openness, and willingness to embrace change. At the same time, the city clearly demonstrates how crucial affordable housing is for social participation, professional opportunities, and overall quality of life.
5. Why is Berlin attractive for your company?
Our services address one of Berlin’s most pressing challenges: rapidly increasing rents for new leases and frequent violations of rent control regulations. The high demand for tenant support, the diversity of the city’s neighborhoods, and our close connection to tenants make Berlin the ideal location for our business.
6. What does Berlin stand for, in your view?
For us, Berlin stands for freedom, diversity, courage to embrace change, and social cohesion. This also includes the responsibility to balance economic development with social inclusion and equal opportunities.
7. How does your company approach sustainability?
Our core business contributes to social sustainability by helping people reduce their housing costs over the long term and secure access to affordable housing. Online appointments and digital communication complement our personal consultation services, reducing travel requirements and paper consumption.
