Quantistry - QoD Technologies GmbH

Dr. Marcel Quennet, Managing Director, Quantistry - QoD Technologies GmbH

1. Describe your company in a Tweet!

Quantistry develops the next generation of chemical simulations that massively simplify and accelerate the development of new chemicals and materials based on quantum simulations and artificial intelligence.

2. Why are you involved as a Berlin Partner?

We consider an active exchange and cooperation both regionally and nationally to be very valuable and important. We see Berlin Partner as an important part of the Berlin ecosystem and would like to make our contribution here as well.

3. What topics drive you in relation to your industry?

We are concerned with making the use of quantum simulations in material development the standard and in this way meaningfully supplementing laboratory-based development - one day perhaps even replacing it entirely. The technological development of the last few years - especially with regard to the available computing capacities - enables massive increases in efficiency, which we believe should be used to advance material and drug development, among other things.

4. What makes Berlin special for you?

Berlin is a pacemaker of economic and social development, a vibrant, cosmopolitan metropolis that always feels a few years ahead of the rest of the country.

5. Why is Berlin attractive for your company?

It's the vibe of the city, the kind of people who live here and, accordingly, the opportunity to attract the right people for our company. In addition, it's very easy for us to talk to other start-ups here, so we always have our finger on the pulse.

6. What does Berlin stand for?

Progressiveness, innovation, openness, diversity, cosmopolitanism and tolerance.

7. How does your institution implement the topic of sustainability?

Basically, what we do - supplementing the laboratory-based development of materials and active substances with simulations - is already sustainable in itself. This is because the environmental balance of the entire development process is optimised by dispensing with chemical starting materials and avoiding chemical waste, as is necessary or occurs in classical experiments. In the company itself, we take care to avoid printouts, use reusable cups when we go to get coffee and use only organic products (e.g. for coffee, drinks or fruit).
