Berlin gets it right: Making recognition procedures easier

Berlin, Nov. 24, 2025 - Germany’s medical workforce grew by 2.1% in 2024 to around 581,000 doctors. But according to the German Medical Association, the rise is still insufficient to meet the country’s needs.  Immigration remains a key factor.  That insight also guided Dr. René Rheimann, Johanna Engelhardt and Pasha Alidadi, the founding team behind Get2Germany GmbH. The Berlin-based company specializes in helping international health professionals – especially doctors – gain recognition of their qualifications in Germany and overcome bureaucratic hurdles.

To that end, G2G has developed an online platform that guides medical professionals step by step through the highly complex licensing process – from collecting required documents and tracking deadlines to language courses and exam preparation. Users receive a personalized roadmap that includes reminders, automatic progress tracking and support for exams and language tests. The platform also connects them with experts, including experienced doctors, and links them with potential employers and relevant institutions. The goal is to significantly accelerate the recognition process and integrate international medical talent into Germany’s health care market more quickly. Acting as a bridge between skilled professionals and the German health system, Get2Germany relies on technology-driven solutions and sustainable partnerships.

The startup is still in its early phase but already benefits from Berlin’s strong support networks. Get2Germany is part of the Science & Startups program of the  Berlin University Alliance, which helps young founders with funding, mentoring and access to networks. The program brings together Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Berlin Partner has also played a key role in Get2Germany’s development, backing the company as it successfully established itself in the capital.

Recognition has come quickly. Beyond its partners and first pilot clients, Get2Germany has already won over a wider audience. The startup secured the €12,000 Science & Startups Founders’ Award 2025 from Berliner Sparkasse, along with the audience prize. Just a year earlier, it had been honored as Berlin’s top social enterprise in the category “People – Social Enterprise for Living Together.”

According to the German Medical Association, the number of doctors working in Germany without German citizenship reached a record high in 2024. Yet for many international health professionals, relocation in Germany remains tied up with bureaucracy and long delays. Berlin-based Get2Germany GmbH is tackling this challenge with an innovative platform and plans to keep building strong partnerships as it grows. By supporting and guiding international talent, Get2Germany and its partners are helping to stabilize Germany’s health care system and close critical gaps in care.
