Mimic Productions

David Bennett, CEO and founder of Mimic Productions

1. Please describe your company in a few sentences.

Mimic Productions is a leading, award‑winning 3D animation and motion‑capture studio based in Berlin, specializing in photorealistic digital humans, avatars, and high‑quality character animation. The studio collaborates globally with brands, artists, and the entertainment industry, combining 3D scanning, character modeling, facial and full‑body motion capture, and VFX production. In addition, Mimic is specialized in conversational AI, AI‑driven interactive characters, virtual influencers, and real‑time HoloBox experiences.

2. Why are you engaged as a Berlin-Partner?

Berlin is our home base and our creative foundation. As a member of the Berlin Partner network, we actively contribute to strengthening the city’s position as a global hub for innovation, digital media, and AI. We believe in building strong ecosystems—connecting talent, technology, research, and industry—and see our role as both a co‑creator and an ambassador for Berlin’s excellence in creative and entertainment technologies.

3. Which topics drive you in relation to your industry?

The convergence of AI and digital identity is transforming every industry. We are particularly driven by:

• Embodied AI and conversational digital humans
• Real‑time 3D and immersive technologies
• Ethical AI and responsible digital identity design
• Scalable production pipelines for high‑quality virtual characters

We believe the future is not one where AI replaces humans, but one where it extends and enhances human presence.

4. What makes Berlin special to you?

Berlin combines creativity with technological depth. It is one of the few cities where artists, engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs naturally intersect. Berlin’s openness, diversity, and experimental mindset create the ideal environment for pioneering work in digital humans and AI‑powered storytelling.

5. Why is Berlin attractive for your company?

Berlin offers access to top talent in art, engineering, gaming, film, and AI. The city’s strong startup culture and international outlook enable us to collaborate globally while building locally. Moreover, Berlin has a robust research and academic ecosystem that is essential as we continue to push the boundaries of embodied AI and human–computer interaction.

6.  What does Berlin stand for, in your view?

For us, Berlin stands for courage. It is a city that lives reinvention—culturally, technologically, and economically. This spirit aligns perfectly with our mission to redefine how humans and AI interact.

7.  Wie setzt Ihr Unternehmen das Thema Nachhaltigkeit um?

We follow a holistic sustainability approach by replacing physical processes with virtual workflows, developing reusable and scalable digital assets, and prioritizing responsible, GDPR‑compliant AI. Through efficient hybrid working models, we reduce our ecological footprint. For us, sustainability means creating technology that is efficient, responsible, and future‑proof.
