VISIONARY METROPOLIS OF THE IDEA-REPUBLIC GERMANY

The past two years have presented the global economy and companies in Germany and Berlin with extraordinary challenges. However, both economic development figures and the Berlin-Partner-results show that Berlin's companies have responded better than average to the crisis.

In the past 2023, 10.124 new jobs were created in the 269 projects we successfully managed.

Digital economy in Berlin: De.hub Berlin and Fintech-Festival FIBE

06. November 2023 - A recent study by Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB), the Berlin-Brandenburg Business Associations (ZVB) and Berliner Sparkasse (BSK) confirms this: Berlin’s digital economy offers great potential. It is growing steadily and is also able to withstand factors such as a shortage of skilled workers and a housing shortage. This is due, among other things, to the convincing salary models in the industry and the attractiveness and appeal of Berlin as a location. The Fintech sector, short for “financial technology”, is particularly popular with young people and experienced professionals alike. The industry is the second largest start-up sector in the city and gives Berlin the reputation as the “Fintech capital”. With the Germany-wide digital network De.hub Berlin, which is managed by Berlin Partner, and the Fintech Festival FIBE, which will be held for the first time in April 2024, the capital is consolidating its reputation as a promising Mecca for the digital economy and impressing with its impressive Fintech ecosystem.

In Berlin, around 130,000 people are employed in the digital economy. 9,000 of them work for around 250 Fintech companies, including heavyweights such as TradeRepublic, N26, Finleap, Mambu, solarisBank and others. A good reason to host the Fintech Festival FIBE on 24 and 25 April 2024 in the City-Cube congress arena and to welcome IT, digital and financial experts. Over two exciting days, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in enriching keynotes, workshops, mini-events and discussions as well as to attend networking and exchange formats. Those interested can purchase tickets now or keep up to date as newsletter subscribers.

The stakeholders who are already part of the De.hub Berlin digital network are also always well informed. The initiative is coordinated by Berlin Partner and is characterised in particular by a transfer of technology and expertise between the participating partners and partners in the fields of Fintech and the Internet of Things (IoT). The aim of the hub is, among other things, to generate international visibility and attention and to position Berlin as a central contact point for specialists, solutions and innovations in the areas of Fintech and IoT.

Interested parties can gain an exciting insight into Berlin’s Fintech world in the new podcast episode Berlin Business Podcasts from Berlin Partner, which will be released on 8 November. Host Lukas Breitenbach focuses on the digital economy and welcomes Miriam Wohlfahrt, one of the first female Fintech founders in Germany, to the program. In the midst of the 2009 financial crisis, she founded Ratepay, a payment service provider. She is now the founder and co-managing director of the financing start-up Banxware and a member of the Fintech Council of the Federal Ministry of Finance. So it’s well worth listening in!
